Metabolism of ethosuximide

Abstract
Twenty subjects, in a double-blind, controlled, rising dose study, were given ethosuximide either once daily or 3 times daily. Steady-state plasma levels and urinary throughput were proportional to dose and were equivalent whether the daily dose was given as a single or a divided dose. This finding adds validity to consideration of the single daily dose regimen as a therapeutic possibility. The metabolic principles should be considered both in patient management and in the treatment of overdosage.
