STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR TESTING INFRARED DETECTORS AND FOR DESCRIBING THEIR PERFORMANCE

Abstract
A working panel composed of representatives from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada was established to prepare a joint standard on infrared detector measurements. This standard recommends the kind of tests to be made on infrared detectors and the manner of presenting the test results, with the following 2 major aims: (1) the method of presentation shall be such that reports of any testing laboratory will be immediately intelligible to infrared workers in all 3 countries, and (2) the test results shall have maximum utility for the users of detectors. This standard is intended primarily to include all common types of visible and infrared detectors that provide a useful measure of the total radiation incident on the respond sufficient data will be presented to permit a user to estimate the performance of a detector in a particular application.Keywords
