Abstract
A study was made of the relative effectiveness of desoxycorticosterone acetate when administered orally and paren-terally. If administered admixed with the animal''s food, oral adm. is as effective as parenteral inj. of the same dose. The salt content of the diet is important in determining the dose of desoxycorticosterone necessary for replacement therapy in adrenal cortical insufficiency. Relatively large doses are necessary in the absence of an adequate salt intake. NaCl alone fails to maintain the completely adrenalectomized rat alive indefinitely. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
