Abstract
The records of 325 children with meningitis were examined retrospectively. Of the 43 children who presented with seizures, 15 lacked signs of meningeal irritation; of these, 4 had additional sources of infection and 3 had had a prior febrile seizure. Of the 15 patients without signs of meningeal irritation, 5 were over 2 years of age; in 8, the meningitis was bacterial. The seizures were usually brief and generalized. Keywords
