Abstract
Following both single and repeated exposures of male subjects to defined concentrations of benzene in air, the concentrations of benzene in exhaled air and of phenol in the urine of the exposed subjects have been determined. The proportion of the retained benzene excreted as phenol tended to be greater in the heavier subjects. In addition, the determination of benzene in exhaled air following an exposure provides values which indicate that only a small proportion of the retained benzene is eliminated via this route. Keywords
