Abstract
A review of Canadian surveillance data for the past decade indicates that the incidence of reported hepatitis B cases has increased despite the availability of safe and effective vaccine. Sexual transmission (particularly heterosexual transmission) is the major route of virus spread in North America. Because of this fact, and because immunization of selected high-risk groups has failed to control disease, universal immunization is the strategy of choice. This publication has 22 references indexed in Scilit:
