Abstract
COMMITTEE ON MATERNAL WELFAREConcealed HemorrhageOral contraception was discontinued in a 25-year-old nulligravida because of thrombophlebitis. After recovery an intrauterine device was inserted.Some time later the patient was admitted to the hospital because of vaginal bleeding and cramps, exactly two weeks after an allegedly normal menstrual period. The temperature was 37.2°C, but other vital signs and physical examination were normal and a cervical culture and test for urinary human chorionic gonadotropin were both negative.
