Agranulocytosis after 10(N-Methyl-piperdyl-3-methyl)phenothiazine, with Recovery

Abstract
WITH new drugs agranulocytosis is a serious side effect always feared, and occasionally found. The following case concerns a patient who recovered from this complication after treatment with 10(N-methyl-piperdyl-3-methyl)phenothiazine,∥ one of the newer ataraxic drugs.Case ReportC.G., a 46-year-old man, had had a history of schizophrenic reaction, paranoid type, since 1935, and also healed pulmonary tuberculosis. He returned to the hospital on June 7, 1957, because he was withdrawn and seclusive. He had been aggressive and destructive at times. He showed blocking, inappropriateness, suspicion and evasiveness.
