Seitelberger’s Infantile Neuroaxonal Dystrophy

Abstract
A case of Seitelberger’s infantile neuroaxonal dystrophy is reported. The histopathological features comprise a large amount of axonal spheroids, mainly in the gray matter of the CNS, associated with complex systemic degenerations involving the long tracts, the visual system, the cerebellum and the basal ganglia. The pathological picture of the disease is essentially that of a dying back degeneration involving several fiber tract systems and the spheroids represent a peculiar alteration of terminal axons and nerve endings of the involved systems.
