Abstract
Weddell seal populations are sedentary and discrete in stable ice areas. Adult females showed a high degree of fidelity to specific pupping colonies but retained the behavioural plasticity to accept adjacent colonies in unfavourable ice conditions. The movements of non-parturient females during the pupping season were not related to the colony at which they preferred to give birth. Keywords
