Abstract
A study was undertaken on the chest X‐rays of 414 children suspected clinically of having pneumonia, to ascertain whether the lateral film provided additional diagnostic information. In only nine cases the lateral film confirmed the diagnostic value of the frontal film and it is suggested that a routine lateral chest film should not be taken for children suspected of having pneumonia. Keywords
