SOIL-PLANT RELATIONS

Abstract
A method of using the Mitscher-lich equation and a good soil testing program in estimating the requirement of Illinois soils for phosphate and potash is described. On well established exptl. plots it was possible to predict the yield increase for the combined use of potash and phosphate within a standard error of estimate of [plus or minus]5%. Most corn belt soils will not require testing oftener than once in 4-6 yrs.
