Abstract
The long awaited Government response to the Peat Marwick McLintock (PMM) report is finally with us. It contains no major surprises, but has it answered the many questions that have been asked since the publication of Working Paper 10? The Peat Marwick McLintock report was the consequence of the Department of Health’s need as a sponsoring department to review the activities of non- departmental public bodies, in this context the five statutory bodies established under the Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors Act, 1979. The review was funded by the Department and was undertaken within a short timescale, bridging the end of 1988 and the beginning of 1989.
