Abstract
Using multiple-scattering theory, an alternative derivation is given for the coherent potential which enters the self-consistent averaged propagator which describes the motion of an electron among stationary scatterers. The formalism represents a more straightforward approach to the problem than the usual method and allows previous results to be easily derived alongside new ones.
