Abstract
In the presence of suitable phyllosphere bacteria, aqueous washings of the foliage of C. sativa contain allelochemicals. Investigations into the nature of these chemicals and their precursors, and the essential role of bacteria in the production of allelochemicals are discussed. Benzylamine is identified as an allelochemical influencing the association of C. sativa with Linum usitatissimum. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
