Abstract
Past experiences in making a variety of thermal and physical measurements at high temperatures have resulted in a general furnace design which has proved to be quite successful for a variety of measurements. The operating range of the furnace described covers the temperature interval 750–2900°C. General design principles and details of construction for one of the furnaces are discussed. Several modifications of the furnace and some examples of the types of measurements which have been made are described. Keywords
