Abstract
Semliki Forest virus (SFV) multiplied rapidly to high titer in suspended cell tissue cultures. Multiplication was demonstrated in chick embryo, virus-induced fibroma and other tumor tissues as well as in certain normal tissues of rabbit and man. Intramusc. injn. of SFV into rabbits bearing virus-induced fibromas caused rapid regression of the tumors. Microscopic examination of fibromas and studies of hanging drop prepns. revealed that SFV progably exerted its effect by causing necrosis of the parasitized fibroma cells. Keywords
