Ascariasis of the Biliary System

Abstract
In a recent article, Phillips and Yune8 discussed the surgical complications of invasion of the biliary tract by certain parasites, and they reported in some detail 2 illustrative cases from their experience in Korea. A review of the American surgical literature reveals theirs to be the first report on this intriguing problem since 1946. The scarcity of available reports, together with our interest in the subject, has prompted this review and report of our own experience in a small mission hospital in Pusan, a port city in southeast Korea. Material This study was made over a 3-year period at the Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital, a 50 bed general hospital which serves an indigent population in a South Korean city of slightly over a million people.
