Abstract
Lichen biomass fumigated by gaseous emissions from a kraft-type pulp mill was reduced over a distance of 16 km. Biomass was inversely related to total S content. The lichen Alectoria fremontii was transported into the fumigated area and exhibited an increased rate of photosynthesis after 14-19 days of exposure which was ascribed to low level SO2 fumigation. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
