Abstract
Experiments were conducted to study the spontaneous flame oscillation phenomena before the flames go to extinction. A number of liquid and solid fuels were tested in several different flame geometries using different extinction modes. In most cases, spontaneous flame oscillations were observed near the limit. The oscillation seems to be a local extinction-ignition event, possible oscillation mechanisms are discussed. Keywords
