Abstract
Trees from some eastern seed sources of loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) average 8 feet taller than local Arkansas trees after 25 years in southern Arkansas plantings. Trees from most of the range appear well adapted to the climate of southern Arkansas. Only trees from near the Gulf Coast are obviously poorly adapted. Forest managers should weigh this substantial, potential gain carefully against possible risk when choosing seed sources for planting in and near southern Arkansas. Keywords
