Elastic Scattering ofO16from Nuclei

Abstract
O16 nuclei have been elastically scattered from Au197, Ni (natural isotope abundance), Al27, and C12 at a laboratory energy of 158 Mev. The angular distributions obtained show features similar to those obtained for alpha particles scattered from various nuclei. However, diffraction effects are evident for target nuclei of higher atomic number Z with the alpha particle as the bombarding nucleus than with O16 as the bombarding nucleus. A survey of the literature is presented to show that diffraction effects become evident for η5, where ηZZe2v.
