Abstract
Some observers equate utopia with totalitarianism and violence while others regard it as essential to human freedom and dignity. Professor Sargent examines how this issue has been treated in recent political theory and argues that utopia is beneficial or hazardous, depending on the way we transform our political dreams into reality.Keywords
