INFLUENCE OF SURFACE EXCITONS ON PHOTOCURRENT ACROSS THE SEMICONDUCTOR–ELECTROLYTE INTERFACE

Abstract
The analysis of spectral characteristics of the photocurrent of electrodes on the base of CdTe, CdS, InSe evidenced the formation of the two-dimensional subbands on the semiconductor surface when the photoelectrode is in contact with an electrolyte. Under illumination optical transitions between such subbands and bulk bands lead to formation of surface excitons.
