Larvicidal and Ovicidal Activity of Dimilin® Against Simulium vittatum1

Abstract
The IGR Dimilin® [1-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(2,6-diflurobenzoyl) urea] was bioassayed against late-instar larvae of Simulium vittatum Zetterstedt in a conical-flushing bioassay unit. When the 25% WP, 5% EC, and 25% FC of Dimilin were compared for effectiveness, it was found that the WP and FC were significantly more efficacious than the EC. LC95 values (rounded) for larvae exposed to WP for 15 min, 60 min, and 24 h were 0.7, 0.2, and 0.03 ppm, respectively. Exposure of 24–48h S. vittatum eggs to Dimilin WP at 1.0 ppm for 1 h almost completely inhibited hatching; however, the mortality rate of eggs 72 h old or more was considerably lower. No pupicidal activity of Dimilin was detected at concn of 10 ppm for a 24-h exposure.This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
