Abstract
The author presents a modification of Iljin''s semi-micro method for the detn. of reducing sugars. It calls for 5-ml. aliquots of extract, and is suitable for a range from 0.1 mg. to 20 mg. per sample. Accuracy is to 0.1 mg. Six monosaccharides were used in a test of the method, and the results were acceptably accurate. Factors for the calculation of lactose and maltose are given. The results check well with those obtained with the Munson-Walker-Bertrand method. Some attention is paid to discrepancies in the results obtained by the 2 methods. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
