Abstract
The use of acetic-hematoxylin solution squashes of mitotic and meiotic chromosomes of bryophytes is described. The concentration of the solution is 2 g of hematoxylin (Merck) in 100 cc of 45% acetic acid. The mordant is iron acetate. Two schedules are presented: meiotic chromosomes of mosses and somatic chromosomes of liverworts and mosses. Hoyer''s mounting medium is employed to make slides permanent. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
