Abstract
C-F antibodies, apparently specific to sporadic bovine encephalomyelitis (SBE), were found in 75 of 488 human sera tested. High titers were found in 51. The serum of 7 individuals was compared by complement fixation and agglutination techniques using antigens prepared from the agents of psittacosis, Q fever, brucellosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis, Western equine encephalomyelitis, St. Louis encephalitis, Japanese B encephalitis and SBE. No correlations were demonstrated in any of the comparisons. The suggestion was made that SBE is another disease of animals whose causative agent is transmissible to man. Keywords
