Abstract
C-F antibodies, apparently specific to sporadic bovine encephalomyelitis (SBE), were found in 75 of 488 human sera tested. High titers were found in 51. The serum of 7 individuals was compared by complement fixation and agglutination techniques using antigens prepared from the agents of psittacosis, Q fever, brucellosis, lymphocytic choriomeningitis, Western equine encephalomyelitis, St. Louis encephalitis, Japanese B encephalitis and SBE. No correlations were demonstrated in any of the comparisons. The suggestion was made that SBE is another disease of animals whose causative agent is transmissible to man.
