On light distribution in optical waveguides

Abstract
Dealing with light distributions in optical waveguides frequently requires the prediction and formation of certain irradiance patterns over the endface of the guide or over the cross section along it. The value of kaleidoscopic and self-imaging effects in obtaining insight into the physical phenomena involved in these situations is stressed. In particular, experiments with circular waveguide geometry are shown.
