Abstract
Comparing the species of Brookesia and Rhampholeon with Chamaeleo it is concluded that Brookesia + Rhampholeon form a monophyletic group, arising from a branch of Chamaeleo, probably most related to the group around Chamaeleo nasutus. The separation between Rhampholeon and Brookesia is confirmed. Keywords
