Abstract
Although alligators are quite active in the winter if the temp. is high they have a pronounced hypoglycemia and no appetite. There is no seasonal change in metabolic rate in either the alligator or caiman. The caiman does not hibernate. Pituitary powder produces prolonged hyperglycemia and increases the metabolic rate. Desiccated thyroid powder has no effect on blood sugar. Neither glucose nor insulin had any effect on metabolic rate. Keywords
