Virus-Related RNA in Human and Mouse Mammary Tumors12

Abstract
A method involving molecular hybridization with radioactively labeled DNA complementary to the RNA of the mouse mammary tumor virus was used to detect homologous RNA in murine and human mammary tumors. In both instances the existence of this RNA was demonstrated in the polysome fraction of the tumor cells. In particular, the results show that human breast tumors contain RNA homologous to an animal breast tumor virus but not to other oncogenic RNA viruses.
