Abstract
This paper was presented at the first annual scientific meeting of The Gerontological Society, Inc. on invitation of the program committee as part of a symposium on the biochemistry and physiology of the aging process. In an investigation using 58 wistar institute rats of various ages, Dr. Andrew found that almost no fatty degeneration of the submandibular glands occurs with age in the rat. This finding is in contrast to the degenerative processes which take place with age in the parotid glands.
