Abstract
From both the wood and the bark of Melicope broadbentiana F. M. Bail. the known flavones, meliternatin and melisimplexin, were isolated together with a new flavone, melibentin. The latter was shown to be 3,5,6,7,8-pentamethoxy-3',4'-methylenedioxyflavone. The leaves contained the known flavones, melisimplin and meliternatin, triacontanol, and two new related phenols, melicopol and methylmelicopol. On the basis of chemical degradation and spectral properties, the structure of melicopol was established as methyl 2-geranyloxy-4,6-dihydroxy-3-hydroxymethylbenzoate and that of methylmelicopol as its 4-methyl ether. Keywords
