Dermoepidermal Interface

Abstract
The characteristic structure of the dermoepidermal interface is analyzed as it appears in permanent mounts of epidermal sheets (semper preparations of Horstmann). This method gives highly instructive pictures of diagnostic value in various dermatoses. Bullous diseases, lichen planus, and lupus erythematosus are quoted as examples. The method is also valuable in comparative anatomy and analysis of follicular disease. It is pointed out that there seems to be a significant correlation between the percentage of compound follicles and chronic folliculitis of the neck.
