Abstract
The zero-core-contribution model is extended to calculate absolute photodetachment cross sections taking into account the fine-structure levels and higher electronic states of the anions and neutral atoms. Comparisons are made with experimental data involving 20 different anions with outermost occupied orbitals. Very good agreement is obtained.
