Abstract
The mass spectrum of the baryons in the (56,) and (70,) is analyzed within a formalism in which the 15 independent matrix elements of the two-body quark potential are taken to be parameters for a least-squares calculation. The evaluated parameters are used to analyze an assumed phenomenological two-body quark potential, consisting of superstrong, SU(6)-breaking, SU(3)-breaking, spin-orbit, and tensor terms. The structure of the baryonic levels are studied by examining the contributions to mass values from each potential term.
