TRADITIONAL ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:FACULTY PERCEPTIONS

Abstract
As nursing moved from diploma schools to college and university settings, it has evolved from a discipline with a major emphasis on practice to a profession with a knowledge base broad enough to support doctoral education and research. How have nursing faculty adjusted to changes in criteria for educational preparation, publication, research, service, tenure, and promotion? The authors report faculty perceptions on these traditional academic requirements.
