Abstract
As nursing moved from diploma schools to college and university settings, it has evolved from a discipline with a major emphasis on practice to a profession with a knowledge base broad enough to support doctoral education and research. How have nursing faculty adjusted to changes in criteria for educational preparation, publication, research, service, tenure, and promotion?
