Mass Spectra of Some Sulfinate Esters and Sulfones

Abstract
The mass spectra of some alkyl arenesulfinates were found to be distinctly different from the spectra of the isomeric aryl alkanesulfinates. Both classes of compounds in turn could easily be distinguished mass spectroscopically from the sulfones with which they are isomeric. The preparation of a new aryl alkanesulfinate, CH3S(O)OC6H4CH3, is described.
