Abstract
Fishes from Lower Otay reservoir, San Diego County, California were examined for metacercariae of the trematode Posthodiplostomum minimum. Bluegills (Lepomis marochirus) had the highest average number per fish. Decreasing averages were found in Florida bass (Micropterus salmoides floridans), crappie (Pomoxis annularis), green sunfish (Lepomis cyanellus), and brown bullheads (Ictalurus nebulosus). Greatest numbers were found in the liver. The kidney, heart and spleen had decreasing numbers in that order. Metacercariae removed from bluegills acclimated at 1.5[degree]C, 3.5[degree]C and 36.0[degree]C had lower viability when fed to day-old chicks than metacercariae from bluegills maintained at 15-20[degree]C.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
