Abstract
The authors discuss the high-energy behaviour of scattering phase shifts for a large class of spherically symmetric Coulomb-like potentials. Some results which have been known only for short-range potentials are extended to this larger class. In particular, by iterating appropriate Volterra integral equations they derive an asymptotic expression for the phase shifts, which is valid whenever the short-range part of the potential is integrable. When applying the results to the problem of the interference between Coulomb and short-range interactions they obtain an estimate for the high-energy behaviour of the Coulomb-interference effect in the phase shifts. Keywords
