Abstract
Bronchial biopsies were taken from 6 asthmatic and 11 non-asthmatic individuals, and the mast cells stained in these specimens with toluidine blue and counted. The preparations from asthmatics showed fewer mast cells to a statistically significant degree than those from non-asthmatics. Intravenous injection of compound 48/80 diminished the degree of granulation, though there were no significant differences between the specimens of allergic and non-allergic persons. Keywords
