Abstract
The author suggests that this period of "second-wave" reform reports provides an excellent opportunity for teacher education faculties to work anew on five long-held goals: (a) improving liberal arts education; (b) strengthening the quality of teacher candidates; (c) achiev ing stronger collaboration with lower schools; (d) clarifying the role of educa tion faculty; and (e) strengthening graduate teacher education. Strategies for addressing each goal are suggested and barriers to goal achievement are explored. Keywords
