Abstract
Assuming that the inter-ionic forces in molten equimolar CsAu can be modelled by charged hard-sphores, we have calculated the partial structure factors in the mean spherical approximation. These are of the same form as those observed in molten alkali halides. The calculated total neutron coherent scattering cross-section is in qualitative agreement with recent experimental data on this alloy; both theory and exporiment exhibit a pronounced shoulder on the low-angle side of the main peak. Wo believe this shoulder to be a strong indicator of molten salt-like charge ordering in CsAu.Keywords
