Abstract
A method is described for measuring the velocity of the ascending gases in a flame. The method measures the time required for an incandescent particle of carbon in the flame to traverse a distance of one centimetre. The method requires two photomultipliers, a double beam oscilloscope and an audio oscillator. An accuracy to better than 1% is claimed. Keywords
