Abstract
Abnormal cilia were reported in human endometrial epithelium. The morphology of the abnormal cilia and a variety of normal and abnormal ciliary precursor structures is described. Human endometrial ciliated cells may represent a developmental overlap with the uterine tube epithelium, and the high incidence of ciliary abnormality may be related to the relatively high turnover rate caused by menstruation. Abnormal cilia appear to be due to a defect of ciliogenesis probably occurring after the formation of basal bodies. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
