Abstract
Heavy-fermion compounds can show pronounced elastic anomalies below a typical temperature Tc where heavy quasi-particle bands form. They are due to a Gruneisen parameter coupling of sound waves to these bands. The microscopic origin of elastic anomalies is investigated in the low-temperature quasi-particle regime and in the high-temperature Kondo resonance regime. A comparison to experimental results for CeAl3, CeRu2Si2 and CeCu6 is made. Keywords
