Abstract
THERE is considerable controversy about whether hepatic injury is induced by exposure to halothane. In support of the existence of such an entity are reports in the literature by 1967 of approximately 400 cases of liver damage after halothane anesthesia.1 In general, the reaction was severe, with death the outcome in approximately a third of the patients.
