Transesterification of Urinary Steroid Sulfates

Abstract
A method is described for the recovery of steroid sulfates from urine by means of transesterification. The method was shown to be specific, to produce little artifact formation, and to yield extracts of sufficient purity to permit direct analysis by a variety of chemical reactions. The utility of the method is illustrated by preliminary studies of steroid conjugate excretion in the urine of subjects with and without adrenal disease.
