Abstract
The absence of significantly different levels of the S-100 protein/mg soluble protein in normal rat brain (mainly white matter) and MNU-induced rat brain tumors, such as astrocytoma, oligodendroglioma and mixed glioma, has been shown. Less differentiated MNU-induced rat brain tumors, such as polymorphous oligodendrogliomas, contained lower levels of the S-100 protein/mg of soluble protein than that of normal rat brain (mainly white matter). The neuroectodermal origin of at least some of MNU-induced neurinoma tumor cells has been shown by finding the S-100 protein in 13 different tumors of this kind. Keywords
